Vision Made Locally is proud to announce its official sponsorship of Manufacturing Day. This is an annual event in which manufacturers around the country open their doors in a coordinated effort to share their craft and company culture with their communities.
Manufacturing Day, which is held the first Friday of every October (October 3, 2014 this year), is a day in which manufacturers across the nation hold open houses, public tours, workshops and other events. The mission is to educate the public about manufacturing, the manufacturers themselves and build stronger community partnerships.
Manufacturing Day is a great opportunity for Vision Made Locally and participating labs to amplify our effort to educate consumers and customers about what we do. By educating consumers about all that goes into filling a patient’s eyewear prescription helps build inherent value in the product and eye care businesses who partner with our labs.
There is not cost to host or attend a Manufacturing Day event. Vision Made Locally is strongly encouraging all manufacturers and laboratories in the optical industry to participate in the national event. This event enables us as an industry to take a hands on approach to educating consumers on the value of the product we produce.
Manufacturing Day and Vision Made Locally also share a common message of the positive impact that choosing American manufactured products and local independent businesses has on the national and local economy. Statistics show manufacturing supports more than 17.5 million U.S. jobs and every $1.00 spent in manufacturing creates $1.48 for the U.S. economy.
